As a green campaigner, I am delighted by the response to last month’s London Flushathon in which an estimated one million Londoners flushed their toilets for the environment. Such unprecedented mass participation is far more than The Right Path Party and myself could ever have hoped for.
The event took place between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday 14 July and was jointly coordinated by Green Piss.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took part in the campaign. Here's hoping the water companies - finally! - will begin to take water leakage as seriously as we all do.

Best wishes,
Jeremy McClintock.

This was a worthwhile cause for the green movement but they’re probably too proud to believe that someone from the right is behind it. If Cameron has though of it it would have been great but because it’s Jeremy people are mostly dismissive

I'm all for direct action and this was a prime example of ordinary people saying enough is enough, you water company fat cats have had enough cream now sit up and take notice.

36 million litres is a drop in the Thames, it must have rained as much in any single afternoon in July. Can't see the point of this.

Bullshit at 12 o'clock.

Despite all the sarcasm I have utmost respect for someone who sticks to his guns and does what he says, even if the consequences are sometimes not always appreciated. The message is important and in terms of what you are doing in the local community with DUFFF and the RPP I'm right behind you. Thanks again,

Never mind the water it's the trees I'm concerned about. We must have had ten leaflets from you and the RPP. Think laterally, do you?

Feel like this has already been said enough but never mind, congratulations and let's get you into parliament asap.

A lot of sarky so-and-so's out there or just people with a fun sense of humour, perhaps. But who's joking and who's being serious? Difficult to tell on your site. I will flush the loo six times before I go to bed in your honour, Mr. McClintock.
Posted by: | 30 August 2007 at 21:33
Does it count if you were in the shower for an hour, as I was at the time? I'd just got back from a game of football and afterwards I drowned my sorrows in the bar (more wasted liquids). Six hours later I was so pissed I fell asleep in the shower. Or did you have to flush for no reason? Or did you need to be "conscious" of what you were doing?
Posted by: Super Pooper | 30 August 2007 at 21:18
Well we came good in the end that's for sure. I think we could achieve big things now that DUFFF and the RPP are working together. It's time for the creative juices to flow.

Kevin and Diane, plus all the others that helped knock on the doors and deliver leaflets, I've got news for you: this is just the beginning. I'm raising a glass (of soya, naturally) to you tonight.

(Forgot to sign the previous post) And why does he wear glasses? Dude, you need a makeover!

Oh, come ON, people! This is baloney. The guy's so phoney he's got 'made in China' written on his ass. If he lived in the US he'd be selling real estate

Reservations aside, I was in favour and did flush my toilet six times. And despite the fact that a lot of water was no doubt wasted some times, it's true, you do have to break eggs to make an omlette.

I am altogether for what you and the Right Path Party are trying to do. We need these type of initiatives, which is EXACTLY the type of postive statement that politicians should be making. Mr. Blair was all too good at making speeches but never got people active. All the luck in the world I hope this is the start of something positive,

If it brings down my water bill then i'm with ya all the way
Posted by: Nicenpricey | 30 August 2007 at 20:49
I knew something was happening because on the night in question there was a terrible smell in the toilet like a cross between fish and rotten eggs. It came back again last week. While I can sympathize with what you might have been trying to achieve it's worth remembering that during a national flood messing with people's water while many people's was cut off is not the cleverest piece of symbolism

Very crafty political operator. I like your style, but you certainly wouldn't win any fair play award.
Posted by: | 30 August 2007 at 20:39
Jeremy thank you for the leaflets (all twelve of them) and for the phone calls. How you got my number I'll never know. We have been ex-directiry for years!! Anyway you made us "conscious", which is no mean feat. Thanks. Gladys and Peter.

Interesting... Comments seem to range between 'not another publicity stunt' and 'why waste more water?' to gushing praise. I don't think the 'water wastage is counterproductive' adds up. 36 million is literally a drop in the ocean compared to the daily leakage, which is what this event seemed to be all about. We live in a media world and if bad pubicity and controversial antics are what's needed to shake up the water companies then so be it.

There are too many critics and far too few lateral thinkers but you are most surely a lateral thinker my friend. Look forward to more thinking 'outside the box'

Water sounds great when it's being flushed away. Sort of crying out "please don't waste me, I could be doing the dishes"
Posted by: | 30 August 2007 at 20:09
You made a believer outta me. Well done for a great piece of organization.
Posted by: Ben Copperwaite | 30 August 2007 at 20:05
I'm a bit old-fashioned in that I believe the best way to help the environment is to do something practical and constructive. If there are leaky pipes then why not help to fix them? You've managed to achieve a big publicity stunt but where to now? Surely you've lost any good faith with the water companies while the public support you had might have been put to much better and more constructive use.

Just heard the fab news. Well done to everyone, and all the Green Piss crowd. Let's not forget it was their idea. The organiation must have been intense to say the least but it paid off in the end thanks to hard work and staying power. Big up yourselves.
